"LAST SWIM": the award-winning Berlinale hit pre-premieres at BFF
IN THE FIRST THINGS FIRST SECTION WE WILL PRESENT HIGH-PROFILE PRE-PREMIERE SCREENINGS OF FILMS THAT WILL OFTEN BE OUT OF REGULAR DISTRIBUTION, MAKING THEM THE FIRST OR ONLY SCREENINGS IN POLAND. AMONG THEM - THE CRYSTAL BEAR AWARD-WINNING ‘LAST SWIM’ BY SASHA NATHWANI!
Created in English and Farsi, “Last Swim” is the story of Ziba - an ambitious and bright young Londoner. Proud of her Iranian heritage, she is conscientious and sensible but also indulges in romantic nihilism. Perhaps this stems from her passion for astronomy, or perhaps from a longing for happier times. Although she was the only member of her close-knit group of friends to achieve good results in her end-of-school exams, she has trouble remaining optimistic.
She and her friends want to spend a day together in hot summer London and witness a unique astronomical event. In secret, Ziba is planning an irreversible step that she believes will put her back in control of her life.
Caught between a deep passion to be alive and an overwhelming desire to end the pain and fear associated with her current reality, Ziba must learn to let go of her youthful dreams and deal with uncertainty.
