Tara and her friends go on holiday to Greece. Their plan is simple: a never-ending flow of alcohol, parties and sex. Tara, keeping her virginity a secret, decides to use the trip with her companions to match the erotic experiences of her peers.

Can a story bursting at the seams with wild parties on a Greek holiday be a valuable educational resource in the archaic subject of the AGD? Molly Manning Walker proves that it is. In her perversely-titled debut, she allows the viewer to experience wild nights soaked with alcohol, only to unexpectedly immerse them in the gripping diagnosis of the Gen Z generation.

Winner of the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes, it presents the holiday of three sixteen-year-old girls who refuse to surrender to the nerve-wracking anticipation of their school exam results.

However, they succumb to widespread peer pressure to lose their virginity before university. Tara (Mia McKenna-Bruce), the only one among her friends with the experience of sexual initiation, decides to change that during the intense trip. Drinks pour in hectolitres, the never-ending flow of alcohol continues, and there are plenty of attractive boys. Although it may sound like a prelude to a teen comedy like AMERICAN PIE, HOW TO HAVE SEX quickly removes the mask of primitive fun and accentuates the moral hangover that Tara must confront.

Manning Walker portrays young girls who learn disappointingly about their boundaries and the concept of consensuality. She doesn't pretend that party nights aren't appealing, but she also touches deeply on the pains of adolescence. In her film, both young and older viewers can find themselves, recalling the challenge of constructing their own identity.
