REAWAKENING
REAWAKENING
John and Mary’s daughter went missing ten years ago. Now, suddenly and unexpectedly, she returns to the family. After a decade steeped in grief and guilt, a time of joy and relief is overshadowed by an unbearable tension as John begins to suspect that Clare is not who she claims to be.
John (BAFTA winner Jared Harris) and Mary (BAFTA-nominated Juliet Stevenson) have spent the last decade of their lives in an emotional limbo – trapped in overwhelming guilt and unresolved grief.
Their only daughter, Clare, ran away from home when she was 14. For all those years there has been no contact, and she has completely disappeared without a trace. How can you come to terms with the loss of a loved one when there are so many unanswered questions? Is Clare still alive? Does she watch the press conferences where her desperate parents continue encouraging her to return home? Why did she run away?
When one day Clare (Erin Doherty, well known to audiences for her role as the young Princess Anne from the third and fourth seasons of THE CROWN) unexpectedly returns, already a young woman of 24, Mary is overjoyed. Finally, her prayers have been answered and the family is together again.
But John doesn’t share his wife’s enthusiasm. He remains sceptical, doubting that Clare is indeed their daughter. Thus begins an emotional psychological drama and thriller, where the tension builds as we, alongside the characters, seek the truth, confined within tight, claustrophobic spaces.
The gripping and intense REAWAKENING is the second film from BAFTA-nominated writer and director Virginia Gilbert. We are proud to present its Polish premiere as part of the British Film Festival programme.
