Charlie Croker has just been released from prison, and he's ready to plot, cheat, steal and combine. He takes on a job in Turin, one that will have him pressing the pedal to the metal more than a few times. This film is a tribute to the legendary Mini Cooper cars.
Charlie Croker is a sophisticated, stylish crook and charmer, fresh out of prison and determined to avoid getting caught again. To dodge the heat, he wants to organise his new heist abroad, in Italy. The complicated plan is to steal Chinese gold bars worth more than $4 million right from under the noses of the Italian police and mafia.
The mastermind behind the original plan was murdered, leaving Charlie in need of financial backup from a more powerful criminal. Charlie manages to get into the good graces of an eccentric, extremely polite crime boss, Mr Bridger (Noel Coward), who is fascinated by the person of the Queen.
With Bridger’s support, Charlie assembles a crack team of Britain’s finest thieves, robbers, drivers, kidnappers, and computer hackers. A vital part of Charlie's plan is to flee with the loot in three small Mini Cooper cars.
